Bio: Dana Lockett-Harrison

Ive always enjoyed exercise. When I was fifteen I began taking aerobics in my hometown in Tennessee. Health class in high school was one of my favorites. I didn't, however, have the best example of a healthy lifestyle at home. My father battled with obesity for most of his adult life. Obesity finally won the war when my father died of a massive heart attack at the age of fifty-one in 1996. It is partially through my experience of watching my father struggle with his obesity-related ailments that I chose to maintain a healthy lifestyle. After losing my father, I decided to find a way to help as many people as I could by teaching them how to exercise for health benefits as opposed to purely for aesthetic benefit.

I view fitness as a quality of life issue. I believe exercise is important for the whole family. My approach is to take people from where they are now and improve upon what they have.
